Explosive Experimental Surface Test Site at Colorado School of Mines

Colorado School of Mines, Mining Engineering Department would like to announce to our explosive industry and explosive users that CSM established new remote test site at our experimental Edgar mine in Idaho Springs , Colorado .

The remote test site is fully developed with access road, permanent buildings, commercial electric power, running water, and telephone line/internet.  Accommodations for staff and visitors including office space, meeting room, kitchen, and shower room.

General support for experimental activities is provided by a machine shop, weld shop, carpenter shop and earth moving equipment.  Engineering, and basic research support for the experiments performed at the remote test site is provided by an experienced staff in CSM.

The two separate explosive firing areas (Surface and Underground tunnels) are active year around and are supported by permanent full-time staff.  The site is available for use on commercial, foreign government, and US government contracts.

The Edgar Mine has 2 ton Type 1 explosive magazines approved by ATF and State of Colorado .
