What is Advanced Hazards Mitigation?

Hazards mitigation is any action taken to reduce or eliminate the risk to human life and property from natural and man-made hazards. 

Advanced hazards mitigation is the application of advanced technologies to meet this goal.

This includes research in structural dynamics (linear and nonlinear), structural control, structural health monitoring, and  performance-based engineering.
